As authors and writers, we’re always learning about resources and industry tools that we can use to improve our book project performance and the enjoyment of our writing and marketing experiences. Today let’s talk about writers’ conferences, and specifically ThrillerFest, the writers’ conference for thriller writers.

Writers’ conferences are a great opportunity for those in the industry to gather in one place to learn, celebrate, and meet up. As a writer, conferences are supreme chances to talk with others writers in your genre and meet those who have succeeded before you. You can also find great tips and tools during conferences as well as terrific new contacts to network with all year long. As an industry professional, conferences offer a wonderful opportunity to meet up with old friends and get introduced to new professionals. Both writers and industry professionals have the chance to learn about what’s new in their genre and what’s working when they gather together for a few days.

ThrillerFest is a wonderful writers’ conference and the place to be annually for thriller writers. This year, the International Thriller Writers organization has taken their conference to the next level by inviting members to an exclusive session taught by the FBI at the beginning of the week followed by CraftFest where bestsellers Michael Connelly, Michael Palmer, Doug Preston and Lincoln Child, Heather Graham, David Morrell, Lorenzo Carcaterra, T. Jefferson Parker, Steve Berry and John Sanford and many more will be teaching how to craft your next thriller and much more. AgentFest will take place on Thursday afternoon at the end of CraftFest, with more agents than ever in attendance to receive pitches from the participants.

This year, ThrillerFest is introducing a new opportunity – for readers to meet their favorite authors during FanFest on Friday night, July 12th, 2013. This is a brilliant chance to meet several of your favorite thriller writers in one place at one time!

ThrillerFest itself is a wonderful inside look at thriller writing, what it takes to do it, and to learn how those who have mastered it do it so well with so many books. From the 2013 Thriller Master herself, Anne Rice, to Steve Berry, the winner of the Silver Bullet Award this year, which recognizes the honoree for his or her philanthropic endeavors, ThrillerFest features a one-stop event for those writers interested in writing a thriller novel or taking their writing careers to the next level.

Some writers are not sure what they will get out of a writers’ conference; others wonder whether it is worth the time, money and effort. With conferences like ThrillerFest that are well-planned and well-organized, a writer is given every chance to get as much or as little out of the conference as he or she intends to.

If you want to use your book as your hook, then congregate and network with others who are writing in your genre and get to know the industry professionals who are constantly looking for new writers to work with. It could be the best next move you make with your writing career.
